Publications

Artistic Canicules. Fun and Humor at Plein-airs in Osieki 1963-1981
published with Łukasz Rozmarynowski in a catalog of the Museum in Koszalin, 2023

“We will organize a party that has never been seen before in the whole of Europe,” wrote Marian Bogusz in a letter to Jerzy Fedorowicz. The outdoor workshops in Osieki 1963-1981 were not only a place for creative work and intense theoretical discussions but also social gatherings of artists from various backgrounds, which consequently also included leisure and a relaxed atmosphere, encouraging merriment and fun.

International Artists Meeting Performance and Body at the Labirynt Gallery in 1978. Reconstruction and Typology of the Actions, published in “Sztuka i Dokumentacja”, 2020

The International Meetings of Artists ‘Performance and Body’ at Galeria Labirynt in Lublin in 1978 was an important event for the discourse of performance art and the formation of the formula of the action art festival in Poland. The article is the first attempt to reconstruct events and actions, as well as mapping international contacts that led to the invitation of many performers from Eastern and Western Europe to ‘peripheral’ Lublin.

Flash, Torture and Punk – Performances by Tibor Hajas at Festivals in Poland in 1978, published in “Sztuka i Dokumentacja”, 2021

Tibor Hajas, one of the most important Hungarian performance artist and representative of neo-avant-garde art, performed twice in Poland in 1978. The first time was during the IAM Festival at Galeria Remont in Warsaw, and the second time – at the International Meetings of Artists Performance and Body at Galeria Labirynt in Lublin. The article reconstructs both actions, placing them in the broad context of Hajas’s work and the performance art of the late 1970s.

Between the Stage and the Art Gallery: “Artistic Actions” at the Lublin Theatre Spring in 1973 and 1974, to be published in “Ikonotheka”, 2024

The article reconstructs actions presented at the Lublin Theater Spring in 1973 and 1974, gathers scattered archival materials, analyzes the reception of “artistic actions” among audiences and theater critics, and demonstrate how in the mid-1970s, a new art form, later defined as performance art, negotiated its position and sought its place between the theater stage and the art gallery. The article presents a transmedia perspective on the beginnings of performance art in Poland.

Research Trips

MACBA: Guest Researchers Programme in 2024

Between May and July 2024, I will be participating in the residency program at the MACBA Study and Documentation Centre in Barcelona. My focus during this time will be on conducting a comparative study of performance art in Catalonia and Poland, employing the methodology of “horizontal art history.”

Research trip to Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 2023

Grant from the Integrated Development Program, a financial support program for international trips of doctoral students at the University of Warsaw for scientific and educational purposes – comparative research on performance art in Slovenia, archival research, and study visits to major contemporary art institutions.

Erasmus+ in London (UK) in 2018

As part of the Erasmus+ student exchange program, I had the privilege of working as an assistant to the editor at the international art magazine Contemporary Lynx in London. In this role, I was entrusted with various responsibilities, including managing social media, handling distribution, and contributing to content creation by writing texts.

Contemporary Lynx Ltd is a publisher and an arts organisation founded by art historians Dobromiła Błaszczyk and Sylwia Krasoń in 2013. Registered in the UK, now its headquarters are in London, Warsaw, and Paris. The mission is to support the creative community from CEE countries with the core activity of publishing online and print magazines.

Erasmus at Utrecht University (the Netherlands) in 2015/2016

During my Erasmus+ student exchange at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, I had the opportunity to delve into the fields of gender and postcolonial studies. This experience influenced my academic approach, prompting me to direct my research towards Eastern Europe during the 1970s, utilizing the framework of postcolonial theory and drawing inspiration from Piotr Piotrowski’s methodology.
