#BeHappyAlways

Warsaw | 2018

Aleksandra Liput's paintings feature exaggerated masculine imagery—meatheads, pumped muscles, shaved heads and explicit content—combined with emojis and glitter, creating grotesque figures that spill over the canvass with aggressive contours.

The work critiques Western masculinity culture and its territorial assertions, from prehistoric phallic symbols to contemporary dating apps. Rather than celebrating these displays, Liput subverts expectations that women should respond with passive approval.

As a cunning troll, the artist ridicules hypermasculinity by appropriating vulgar imagery from student notebooks, deteriorated housing projects, and internet forums. This confrontational approach challenges heteronormative conventions directly.

Building on her previous "Neverland" series addressing childhood anxieties, this current cycle—featuring paintings and latex sculptures—addresses adult female trauma. The artist applies ironic, bittersweet commentary to the psychological burdens grown women experience navigating these cultural pressures.
